Preparation: Transportation
For groups not within easy driving distance of the border, air travel and van rental need to be arranged.
Air Travel
Most major airlines fly into San Diego International Airport.
Vehicles
Most groups use 12-15 passenger vans to transport the group to and from the orphanage as well as for teams to use to get to and from their sites each day. Cargo vans are great for luggage and food transportation. Pick up trucks desirable for work crews to deliver materials to the sites each day (a rough ratio of 1 pick up to 3 sites). All vehicles should be covered with Mexican insurance for duration of your time across the border.
